Clogged Caps

My sister, Valerie Jennifer Perez, is the wonderful designer of Verseau. Currently, Valerie is in Manhattan working with the esteemed Marisol Deluna of Marisol Deluna New York. Before her departure, I had the pleasure of attending her most recent San Antonio showcase at the Clogged Caps Nine Art & Fashion event. I was unaware of what to expect as far as the details of this location, but the unique setup was a pleasant surprise. Painted canvases lined the freshly graffitied walls. High heels echoed through the warm, dimly lit, warehouse. The heat brought an unintentionally grungy look to the primped fashionistas, who waited patiently for the show to begin.

This wasn't your run of the mill cat walk. One by one, the models would walk across the unlit stage to their markers. There, the low angled spotlight would cast their shadows across the walls, accentuating the garment's silhouette. Then back in darkness, they remained on their markers in various poses until the full group was on stage. The lighting for this show was truly an aesthetic treat. I was lucky enough to capture one of my sister's looks at just the right moment. From a photography standpoint, I fell in love.

Verseau has been featured on San Antonio Living, Great Day SA, San Antonio Current, Slave Magazine, Coco Magazine, and more. Visit her website here for more information.
